New hybrid taxi's spotted in NYC

Supposedly there are only 6.. That's right- SIX hybrid taxi cabs in all of NYC. But hey you have to start somewhere right? What's cool? They're totally silent and emission free when traveling under 25mph. This means you can now clearly hear your driver screaming at his wife in Arabic from the comfort of the backseat. (They supposedly don't have the protective divider walls found in other cabs either, compounding the problem amenity.) Plans are in the works to have 100% hybrid taxi's by 2010, pretty ambitious if you ask me- but maybe not after Ford's announced plans to have 250,000 hybrids on US roads by that time.
